...About Bookmarks:
When our previous host had discontinued its hosting services with very little warning, we worked around the clock to restore our site on our new servers. We'd like to say "what are the odds of that happening again?", but now days, we've come to expect anything. Especially since it's happened to us twice before. So be sure to bookmark our domain name (http://www.guitar-closet.com/) which will follow us even if a current server becomes obsolete. Netscape users may need to edit the bookmark to indicate our domain name rather than this current page and server. Be sure to include the - (dash) between: 'guitar-closet'.
Add http://www.Guitar-Closet.com to your bookmarks
A litteral capture of the url for this status page could, for instance be http://www.mirrorhost.com/guitar-closet/gcstatus.htm (if http://www.mirrorhost.com/guitar-closet/ was where this page was being hosted) - However our domain redirection would always find this page at http://www.guitar-closet.com/gcstatus.htm even if we changed our site to a new server. Internet Explorer users should usually capture the correct universal bookmark by clicking the bookmark link (unless we haven't updated it yet) but netscape users may have to edit them - replacing the 'http://www.mirrorhost.com/guitar-closet/' with 'http://www.guitar-closet.com/' to be sure they don't become outdated. Even if you see http://www.guitar-closet.com/ in the address bar, that may not be the way some browsers capture the bookmark. You should probably view a page's properties to determine how your browser will bookmark it. For IE, right click in a blank area of a page and select 'properties'. For Netscape, right click and select 'view info'.
IE allows web authors to configure a bookmark for you if you click a bookmark link rather than selecting 'Favorites' in the browser menu, so the properties of a page isn't necessarily relevant to the bookmark link's properties the web author created for you. However it would be relevant if you created your bookmark using the 'favorites' menu.
...About Browsers:
This site is best viewed with Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher with default settings on a Windows 95 or better operating system. Java scripting attempts to offer other browsers a compromise but unfortunately the experience pales in comparison. If you encounter problems, your input is always welcome and encouraged. Please contact us from this link - email@guitar-closet.com (Subject: Browser Problems) - and let us know. Please let us know exactly where you encountered the problem and tell us as much as you can about your system and browser. It sure would be nice if one shoe fit all but in the real world, ...don't think that dog will ever hunt.
...About Email:
We also experienced an indepentant email server problem at the same time as our website server problem (UNBELIEVABLE, HUH? Now I believe lightning can strike twice...at the same rain drop). We had to re-edit (again & again) all our pages to revise our email links but there may still be some we missed. Our new email address is email@guitar-closet.com . All forms are now revised and working. If you encounter an old email link (guitarcloset@iname.com), which you may, it should still get to us eventually, however we recommend using our new email address.
...About Links and 404 Errors:
There may be problems we haven't debugged yet such as former links that now create unexpected results but as we are constantly updating, we will probably run across them eventually if our visitors don't advise us first, that is. And we thank everyone that takes the time to let us know. A new system that we've installed should redirect you to alternative solutions if you find a broken link within our domain. If you find one of these broken links, please take a moment to contact us from this link - email@guitar-closet.com (subject: 404 error) - and let us know. Our redirection system should also provide you with a contact link as well as a link to let you go back to where you experienced the problem so you can give us as much detail as possible to help us correct it quickly. Links leading outside of our domain will not be intercepted by our redirection system so you'll need to use your browser 'back button'. Since we do refer to so many links outside our domain, especially in GCIR and GCMR, and the web is always changing and outdating itself, you will probably always find broken links somewhere. Hey, we try but we just can't keep up with it as quickly as it changes and as huge as our databases are. But with your help, we can do as well as to be hoped for.
Current Functional Features:
All areas are now working.
All our features which are included in the Guitar Closet Guided Tour are up and running. GCIR, GCMR and GCMR2 (our new version) in Global Links are now up and fully funtional. Our free download area is now up and running. We will be adding to it in short order. All features are now restored and functional barring an occasional link bug.
So, to sum it all up, you may encounter an outdated bookmark or email link which shouldn't get in your way too much, or possibly a broken link which might slow the train, but not de-rail it, as long as your browser has a 'back button' and our 404 error system is working correctly.
Current Troubled Features:
No problems reported at this time.
